Cedar Ridge kept their playoff hopes alive and improved their record to 3-3 with a 31-21 win over Hendrickson on Thursday, Oct. 10 at The Pfield. The Hawks’ playoff chances were spoiled, as they were handed their fourth district loss and fell to 2-5 on the season.

The Raiders, who have reached the playoffs every season since 2013, were led by quarterback Jalen Brown (12), who finished 11-for-14 with 151 yards, and running back Deuce Vaughn (12), who finished with 165 yards and a touchdown.

Cedar Ridge entered halftime with a 14-0 lead following touchdowns by Vaughn and Jack Turner (12), as well as a strong showing by the Raider defense. However, Hendrickson got off to a hot start to begin the second half, as they scored a touchdown on three straight possessions. The Hawks brought the score to 24-21 with three minutes to go in the fourth quarter following a touchdown by Jasiya Demps.

Despite this, the Raiders battled back and gained a 10-point lead after a touchdown by Ricardo Pena-Sucal (11). Cedar Ridge recovered a fumble on the kickoff to Hendrickson to seal the victory.

The Raiders look to pick up another district win on October 18 as they face Vista Ridge, one of this year’s district surprises, at Dragon Stadium.
